Update: 1745hrs - CA-SCU Mustang - fire is 500+ acres and about 35% contained. XMR2141C (Marin LG) returning from Santa Barbara apparently reassigned to this incident. Update: Great RAW Video from KTVU - Link Update: 1445hrs - fire is 100+ acres, Firefighters were reportedly holding a critical ridge line. The fire possibly involves private lands and acreage within the park... NEU sending ST 9231C Batt. 2310 Engines 2361, 2364, 2365, 2367, 2389 for SCU cover assignments, Crrently 3 air tankers, 3 heliopters, 5 strike teams of crews, 2 strike teams of engines and various single increment engines and 2 dozers assigned to the fire. Very remote access. Update: 1431hrs - Current sizeup: 75-100 acres, slow rate of spread. Strike Team 9147c out of LNU assigned to the incident. Two water tenders arriving. Update: 1416hrs - ST9241G out of MMU assigned to fire. BEU just sent BC4611 Engines 4665,4666,4677,4683 and 4691 as ST 9460C to the fire, immediate need. Access off of Highway 152 -->County Line road, to form up at fire. Staging will be Crows Landing. Update: 1330hrs - 20-25 acres slow ROS, mixed brush. Potential for 500 to 600 acres.- Fire located approximately between Rooster Comb ridge, Mustang canyon area. Best I-5 travel route --> Orestimba access - Use Sullivan Road I-5 exit. Update: 1320hrs - Crews responding from across valley confirm large header showing. Copter 106 confirms smoke showing 10 mins out, Fixed wing aircraft diverted from Jesusita fire in Santa Barbara.  A RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM PDT THURSDAY. - EXPLOSIVE FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.AREAS OF NORTHWEST TO NORTH WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO REDEVELOP LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING... INCREASING TO 25 TO 40 MPH WITH LOCAL GUSTS TO 60 MPH THROUGH PASSES AND CANYONS. THE WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO SHIFT TO A MORE NORTHEASTERLY DIRECTION OVERNIGHT INTO EARLY THURSDAY MORNING... FAVORING THE MONTECITO HILLS AREA AT THAT TIME. HUMIDITY LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO FALL INTO THE TEENS ACROSS THE SANTA YNEZ RANGE... WITH TEMPERATURES RISING INTO THE 80's. When: NORAD and its geographical component, the Continental US NORAD Region, will conduct exercise Falcon Virgo 09-07, on May 15 and 19 between midnight and 6:00 am in the National Capital Region (NCR), Washington DC. What: The exercise comprises a series of training flights held in coordination with the FAA, the National Capital Region Command Center, the Joint Air Defense Operations Center, the Continental US NORAD Region (CONR), Civil Air Patrol, US Coast Guard and CONR's Western Air Defense Sector. Why: Exercise Falcon Virgo is designed to hone NORAD's intercept and identification operations, as well as procedural tests of the NCR Visual Warning System. Two Civil Air Patrol Cessna aircraft, two Air Force F-16s and one Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopter will participate in the exercise. Residents may see these aircraft approaching and flying in the vicinity of the Washington DC area as part of this exercise during the late night and early morning hours from midnight through 6:00 am on May 15th and the 19th. The owner of AVAG, Craig Compton was attempting to land the chopper at the business headquarters when he crashed. CalFire says Compton was alert and talking when he was taken to Enloe Hospital in Chico. AVAG, Inc. uses helicopters and fixed wing airplanes for crop dusting.Details sketchy - Around 0910hrs reports of an helicopter into hangar at Richvale airport. Update: 0920hrs - One major injury; chopper went down into main hangar. Air medic on order. The County of Santa Barbara and the City of Santa Barbara have established a process for working with property owners affected by the Jesusita Fire. Preliminary property assessments have been completed. A list of properties believed to have been destroyed or significantly damaged by the fire is listed below. This list will continue to be updated as further property assessments in outlying areas occur. Residents within the County (as indicated) may contact Petra Leyva, Planning Supervisor, at 805-568-2071 or www.SBCountyPlanning.org for assistance. Residents within the City (as indicated) may contact George Estrella, Chief Building Official at 805-564-5485 or www.SantaBarbaraCa.gov. List of Residences Damaged or Destroyed This is a preliminary list of the residences damaged or destroyed in the Jesusita fire.
